OUR HISTORY

1947
Livingston & Haven began in 1947 when entrepreneur Malcom D. Haven formed an industrial distribution company in Charleston, S.C.
1948
Providing Parker hoses and nozzles for filling stations was L&H’s first business, and Parker remains a steady partner today.
1950
L&H became a distributor for Westinghouse Air Brake, helping to control brakes and diesel engines for dredges, railyards and ships.
1952
Pneumatics were added to L&H’s roster of products.
1966
In 1966, Clif Vann III joins Livingston & Haven. Eventually he would go on to own the company.
1968
The biggest order up to 1968 was placed by Paulson Marine Engineering to outfit a dredge used to build out Newark Airport.
1973
Mr. Vann moves the corporate office to Charlotte, NC.
1975
1975 was a watershed moment for Livingston & Haven, Mr. Vann and members of the Executive Team traveled to Germany to tour Bosch and ultimately become a distributor for Bosch.
1976
A new L&H Headquarters is built on Wilmar Blvd in Charlotte
1980
In the early 1980s, Livingston & Haven expanded into electronics and automation in a partnership with Mitsubishi Electric.
1993
L&H Institute of Applied Technology was born, to train associates and customers in hydraulics and more.
1999
Clifton Vann IV is named President of Livingston & Haven
2008
In 2008, L&H signaled commitment to business by building new headquarters in their industrial park.
2009
Livingston & Haven takes their business online and begins selling into over 140 countries worldwide
2012
As Bosch Rexroth builds a new manufacturing plant in South Carolina, they award the first hydraulic pump off the line to L&H as a sign of continued partnership.
2014
Clifton Vann spearheaded the regional conference “Energizing Africa”, focusing on manufacturing and held at L&H in its first year.
2022
Livingston & Haven celebrates it's 75th year in business and prepares for the next 75!
